7 December 2018 – Holiday Mixer at Dave and Busters

DATE CHANGED FROM THURSDAY TO FRIDAY!  The Arizona Chapter of the Vertical Flight Society will be hosting a holiday mixer family event at Dave and Busters in Tempe Marketplace on Friday, December 7, 2018. Appetizers will be provided, so bring the whole family for a cash bar, social networking, games, and a Bell 407 model raffle!

Tickets are on sale below or available at the door. All RSVPs need to be made by November 30th by purchasing a ticket or sending an email to RSVP@vfsaz.org. All proceeds go to the Dr. Fredrick Straub Memorial Scholarship fund. The flyer is available here.

The 8th Biennial Autonomous VTOL Technical Meeting and 6th Annual Electric VTOL Symposium will be held at the Sheraton Mesa Hotel January 29-31st, 2019.  This meeting is an excellent opportunity to learn more about and discuss with academia, industry, and military engineers from around the world the latest advancements in manned/unmanned and civil/military autonomous VTOL aircraft technology.  Papers are invited in the areas of VTOL Unmanned Aircraft Systems Vehicle and Control Station Design, VTOL Testing, and VTOL Regulatory Solutions.  For more information, contact UAS@ahsaz.org

25 October 2018 – HTS900 Retrofit for Eagle 407HP

VFS AZ will be hosting Barry Kohler, President & CEO of Eagle Copters Ltd, and Rob Richardson, Business Manager for Commercial Helicopters and Aftermarket Partners at Bell Helicopters. The event was held on Thursday, October 25 at the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel Gallery Room, 1100 N Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85003 (I-10 and 1st Avenue)

September 26, 2018 Dinner Meeting

VFS AZ will be hosting Rey Chu, PADT Co-Founder and Co-Owner, as he presents “Additive Manufacturing Strategy and Digital Transformation” on Wednesday September 26th at Red Mountain Ranch Country Club 6425 E Teton Circle, Mesa AZ 85215. Social hour starts a 5pm, followed by an Italian Dinner Buffet.

Tickets are on sale below or available at the door. Discount on tickets purchased before September 20th. All RSVPs need to be made by September 20th by purchasing a ticket or sending an email to RSVP@vfsaz.org. All proceeds go to the Dr. Fredrick Straub Memorial Scholarship fund.

September 7, 2018 Tech Talk – “Aerospace Opportunities in Arizona”

Are you interested in coming to a Vertical Flight Society event but can’t make a formal dinner meeting? Introducing Tech Talks, a new event format for 2018! Tech Talks are informal happy hours featuring a quick technical talk, followed by socializing and networking opportunities. Our inaugural Tech Talk occured on September 7th at 5:30pm, at Macayo’s at 300 S Ash Ave, Tempe,  AZ. Our featured speaker was Moses Koyabe from the Aerospace Arizona Association. His talk focused on the diverse aerospace activities in Arizona.

AHS International’s Forum 74 was held at the Phoenix Convention Center.

April 11th, 2018 Dinner Meeting

AHS AZ hosted Moses Koyabe, Vice President of Business Development for Ideal Aerosmith, Inc.  and his presentation “The Sky’s The Limit: The UAS Industry in Arizona”.

March 24th – 2018 Family Event: Chili Cook Off and ASU Student Chapter Drone Demonstration

Held at Kiwanis Park in Tempe,  our AHS Arizona members, families and friends came out for a fun chili cook off event and got to meet our ASU chapter engineers with the drones that they had built in their labs.

February 8th – 2018 Dinner Meeting

AHS AZ and AAAA hosted Boeing’s V-22 Senior Manager and retired USMC V-22 Pilot, John Sarno, for his presentation “V-22, A Bold Tilt to the Future.”

January 18th – 2018 Dinner Meeting

AHS AZ hosted Boeing Program Manager Greg Peterson for an update on the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Program.

AHS AZ hosted guest speaker Rich Lee, Retired Boeing Pilot and Engineer, and his presentation “Superbowl XXX: A
Pilot’s Perspective”.

AHS AZ hosted guest speaker Mike Booen, Director, The Boeing Company, Attack Helicopter Sustainment Global Services and
Support and his presentation “How to Keep an Apache in the Fight”.

February 25th – 2017 AHS AZ Family Event: Chili Cook-off and ASU Chapter Drone Flights

Held at Kiwanis Park in Tempe,  our AHS Arizona members, families and friends came out for a fun chili cook off event and got to meet our ASU chapter engineers with the drones that they had built in their labs.

January 25th, 2017 Banquet Event

The 7th AHS VTOL Unmanned Aircraft Systems Technical Meeting was held in Mesa,  Arizona January 24-26, 2017.  Dr. Dan Schrage, Director of the Center of Excellence in Rotorcraft Technology was the keynote speaker at the Banquet dinner and his presentation was “Why Helicopters Can and Should Fly on Mars”.

November 17th, 2016 Dinner Meeting

AHS AZ hosted  guest speaker James Barker, Senior Manger, Global Sales and Marketing AH-6i and AH-64E and his presentation “AH-6i Designed to Perform, Light Attack/Reconnaissance
Helicopter”. The event was  held at Red Mountain Ranch Country Club.

October 25th, 2016 Dinner Meeting

AHS AZ hosted David Koopersmith, Vice President/General
Manager, The Boeing Company, and President, AHS International Board of Directors. The was event  held at  the Red Mountain Ranch
Country Club.

August 11th, 2016 Presentation Co-hosted with SWE

AHS AZ and Society of Women Engineers hosed Anne Wilson,
author of the novel “Hover.” This event was held August 11th at 5th and Wine in Old Town Scottsdale, 7051 E 5th Ave, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.

April 20th, 2016 Dinner Meeting

Our guest speaker was COL Rob Barrie Program Manager US Army Cargo Helicopters. He spoke about “The Future of Cargo Helicopter Operations”

March 28th, 2016 Dinner Meeting
Co-hosted with SWE

AHS AZ co-hosted a Society of Women Engineers Event. We were honored by our guest speaker 1st LT Shaye Haver, Apache Pilot and one of the 1st two female Army Rangers.
